Notice
The Ministry would like to draw attention of all concerned Embassies, Diplomatic Mission Adoption agencies, and Representatives relating to Inter Country Adoption on the followings:
- Information regarding the referral of Children will be only provided through those Embassy, Diplomatic Mission or Adoption Agency which have forwarded adoption dossiers to this Ministry.
- Information regarding those adoption dossiers - which are under process - will not be provided as per the decision of Government of Nepal.
- Telephone enquiry on the status of matching will not be entertained until and unless final decision on the child to be adopted will be made.
- Upon the submission of adoption dossier, the Ministry will verify the documents as per the "Terms and Conditions". Respective Embassy, Diplomatic Mission, adoption agency and local Representative will be notified for any incomplete / faltering documents.
- This Ministry assures that timely information will be provided to respective Embassy, Diplomatic Mission, Adoption agency, and local representative once the final authorization will be made on the child to be granted for inter country adoption.
Nepal Signs Hague Intercountry Adoption Convention

On behalf of Nepal, The Hague Convention on Protection of children and Co-operation in Respect of Intercountry adoption of 29 May 1993 was signed by H.E. Mr. Pramesh Kumar Hamal, Ambassador of Nepal to the Benelux and the European Communities on Tuesday 28 April 2009.

The Ministry invites application, along with the following documents from any interested foreign adoption agencies pursuant to section 11(1) of the Terms and Conditions and Process for Granting Approval for Granting Approval for Adoption of Nepali Child by Alien, 2065 wishing to be enlisted at the Ministry with an objective of working on inter country adoption in Nepal within sixty days from the first publication of this Notice in the Raising Nepal.
The followings
1. Accreditation certificate issued by the country of its incorporation to carry out inter country adoption and its renewal, if it is required
2. A document proving that status of an adopted child is equal to that of biological son and daughter of a citizen of that country
3. A document certifying by the concerned government authority of home country that the agency has been carrying out inter country adoption for at least three years
4. A recommendation letter from the concerned government authority of that country stating therein that the agency has been working in a reliable manner on inter country adoption
5. Institutional profile, including name and address of the agency
6. A true copy of memorandum of understanding concluded between the agency and any Children Homes/ Orphanages for providing $ 10000/ per year to the latter
7. Statute or other document to incorporate the agency stating therein the objectives, working procedure etc
8. Name and contact address of the local representative, if appointed
9. Description of the children welfare program operating in Nepal by the funding of the agency, if any
10. Number of Nepali Children adopted by foreign nationals through the organization/agency, if any:
11. Receipt of $ 500 deposited (non-refundable) at the account of the Ministry
